THE SUPERNATURAL SPECIES, Below is a list of all the species we offer. We've tried to be as detailed as possible, but if you have a question, feel free to ask. In fact we insist -- we want you to get it right, not just make up a crazy answer on your own. (;
SPECIAL NOTE: All of the creatures can sense each other; as in they can look into a crowd and know which people are vampires, which are demons, etc. The only exceptions are shifters and humans (and shifters register as humans, so other supernatural creatures won't know the shifters are different from humans by sensing them.) Now, there have been some cases where the occasional human can sense the supernatural creatures, but this is rare.
VAMPIRES, INTRODUCTION, Vampires are an ancient race, and have been told about in stories for centuries. Most of what was said is not true, however. Garlic does not affect them, Holy Water is just water and they don't sleep in coffins. Interested? Read on.
TURNING PROCESS, Vampires can be either born or created. To find out about being born, see the "reproduction" section. As for created, here's what you need to know: being turned into a vampire is a painful process in which the victim dies and is reborn and instant later. In order to do this, a vampire must drain a human -- a full human, not another super natural creature and not a part-human -- of all their blood, and then replace the blood with their own. Not all of their own, obviously -- just a few mouthfuls should do. After that, the human will die and then come back to life a few moments later. At that point they go through a painful transformation, and emerge a vampire on the other side.
ABILITIES, Vampires cannot go out in the sun, or else it will make them extra crispy. (Vampire-human hybrids can go in the sun, though prefer not too.) They are nocturnal, and have perfect night vision. Along with super-human strength and speed, they have extremely enhances senses. (In case you're wondering, they're faster and stronger and have better senses than a demon.) They cannot turn into bats or smoke, though they have an uncanny ability to blend into the shadows. Also, when they're angry, hungry, upset, or feeling some other intense emotion, their eyes turn black.
AGING, A vampire can live to be about a thousand years old, but most don't make it that long. They are constantly hunted by other species, and so tend to have violent, untimely deaths. Part-vampires live about the same as humans. They age normally until about twenty-five years of age, at which point their aging slows dramatically.
HEALTH AND FEEDING, They need to feed about once every two weeks in order to keep healthy. However, if they sustain an injury then they will need to feed more to make up for the blood loss and the energy it takes to heal. If they have not fed enough and do not have enough blood, they may not be able to heal until they feed again. If they cannot feed in time to replenish their strength, they will die. The blood can come from any species (but not animals).
Their fangs are retractable; they come out and disappear at the vampire's will. The hungrier a vampire gets, the more aggressive and feral they get. Common sense goes out the drain and they get completely driven by hunger; it's very dangerous to be around them at this time.
Vampires do not need any other sustenance besides blood, though they can eat regular food if they wish.
REPRODUCTION, Vampires can reproduce with each other or with humans or shifters. Females are only fertile about once every ten years, and only for a couple days at a time. This is biology's way of keeping these long-living creatures from over-populating.
The more human blood, the less potent the vampire's abilities are. If crossed with a shifter, the result is a child with shifting abilities and a bit more strength and agility than the average human; a vampire/shifter cross would not drink blood.
SOCIAL INTERACTIONS, Vampires live in "nests." These are basically groups (can be big or small) living and hunting together. They can also be rogue if they wish, but most chose to live with others of their kind.
MISCELLANEOUS, If you are unsure about something, ask.
WEREWOLVES, INTRODUCTION, Everyone's heard of werewolves, right? Cool, 'cause we have them here. They are aggressive beings, but not inherently evil.
TURNING PROCESS, Simple: a human must be bitten by a werewolf in order to turn. Part-wolves cannot become full-blooded ones, sorry. And the other species cannot change either. The human must be bitten by a werewolf in its human form, and at that point they undergo a slow, uncomfortable transformation that takes at least a couple weeks; by the next full moon, they will be totally changed and ready to transform into their wolf form for the first time.
ABILITIES, In human form they are stronger and faster than the average human, and definitely more aggressive. Aggression increases towards the full moon. As soon as sun sets on the night of a full moon, the werewolf will turn into it's wolf form and lose all it's humanity. Their hunger is insatiable, though most are content to hunt animals. When the sun rises the next morning, they will change back. The transformations are painful.
AGING, Werewolves age the same as humans.
HEALTH AND FEEDING, For the most part, a werewolves diet and health is the same as a human's. They heal faster but not nearly as fast as a vampire or demon, and can eat anything they wish, although they tend to favor rare meat.
REPRODUCTION, Werewolves can produce with humans or other werewolves. If they cross with another werewolf, the result will be a pure werewolf that will turn every full moon. If they cross with a human or part-werewolf however, the offspring will still be strong and aggressive, but will not undergo transformations.
Werewolves can also cross with shifters, which creates a lycan. This means that the offspring can change into a wolf whenever they want, but that's the only shape they can take.
SOCIAL INTERACTIONS, Pure werewolves group together in pacts, and prefer living in open spaces like in the countryside. Most of the time the pact just consists of immediate family, though larger packs can include dozens of wolves. There is always a recognized alpha, who can be any gender. Occasionally there are rogues, but not often. Part-werewolves tend to be rogues, though not always.
DEMONS, INTRODUCTION, Demons are inherently dark in nature, though not necessarily evil. They are human in appearance, but animalistic in nature.
TURNING PROCESS, Being demonic is a genetic ability; you cannot be one unless you inherit it.
ABILITIES, The most notable ability a demon possesses is the ability to dematerialize and materialize. This is where they disappear (dematerialize) from one spot and appear (materialize) in another spot an instant later. The catch? They can only materialize to places they've already been too. They can only travel with light-ish loads, such as themselves and one other person or perhaps a bit of other luggage. No transporting cars or any of that.
They also have healing abilities, which you can read about below. Other than that, they basically just have super-human strength and speed. Their senses are enhanced, and they have perfect night vision. Also, when they're angry, hungry, upset, or feeling some other intense emotion, their eyes turn black.
AGING, A full-blooded demon can live to be about five hundred. A half demon would live half that long, and anything less than that would simply live the life span of a human. They age normally until about twenty-five years of age, at which point their aging slows dramatically.
HEALTH AND FEEDING, Demons need to feed on blood, just as a vampire does. They need other food as well, and pure demons are completely carnivorous. Rare or rare meet is their favorite.
For the blood feeding, they need to feed about once every two weeks in order to keep healthy.
Their fangs are retractable; they come out and disappear at the demon's will. The hungrier a demon gets, the more aggressive and feral they get. Common sense goes out the drain and they get completely driven by hunger; it's very dangerous to be around them at this time.
REPRODUCTION, They can only breed with humans, shifters or other demons. The more human in their blood, the more humanity they retain; human blood balances out their dark nature.
The more human blood, the less potent the demon's abilities are. If crossed with a shifter, the result is a child with shifting abilities and a bit more strength and agility than the average human; a demon/shifter cross would not drink blood or materialize/dematerialize.
SOCIAL INTERACTIONS, Demons are aggressive, and tend to be sadistic and callous. They do not live in groups for the most part; they tend to be rogue.
SHIFTERS, INTRODUCTION, Shifters really aren't that different from humans, so there's no need for us to talk about anything other than why they are the way they are, and their abilities.
TURNING PROCESS, Shifting is a genetic ability, so you cannot be turned. If you have two shifter parents, you're guaranteed the ability. If you have one shifter parent, you have a fifty-fifty chance of inheriting it. And so on. The less shifter heritage, the less chance that you'll inherit the ability.
ABILITIES, Theoretically, shifters can take the shape of any animal. However, they must be in the presence of the animal in order to learn to take it's shape. After they've learned to take a shape, they can take it whenever they want in the future. So if you happen to be in the presence of a bat and take it's shape, you'll forever be able to turn into a bat at will. Shifters can change whenever, wherever, and can hold the form as long as they please. Many shifters have a favorite form to take, while others have no preference. They cannot sense when another supernatural being is nearby.
REPRODUCTION, Shifters are so close to humans that they can cross with any other species. See the species above to get the specifics on each cross.

THE PLAIN OLD HUMANS AND THE SLAYERS, Below is information on the humans of the site, and the organization Determined Extermination of All the Traitors of Heaven (DEATH), which seeks to destroy the supernaturals.
SPECIAL NOTE: There have been some cases where the occasional human can sense the supernatural creatures, but this is rare. For the most part humans can't know who is a supernatural being without blood or DNA testing.
SLAYERS, INTRODUCTION, We shouldn't have to tell you about standard humans. That should all be obvious. The ones we will tell you about are the slayer organization started by some religious folk who believe all the supernatural creatures are spawn of Lucifer, more or less.
THE SLAYERS KNOWN AS DEATH, As mentioned above, the group was started by religious Christians who thought supernaturals were inherently evil. But they don't only allow fellow religious people; basically anyone who wants to see the supernaturals dead is welcome in their group. Everyone gets blood and DNA tests before they can join, just to make sure they're really human. Their mission is to get rid of the non-humans, so they're constantly attacking the supernaturals. DEATH happens to be the most organized and strongest of all the slayer groups, so they make quite an impact. Many of them have joined because they've been wronged in the past by a supernatural creature, or just because they love having an excuse to kill. DEATH doesn't really care about the motives.
Now, keep in mind that this organization is illegal. The country's government is trying to prevent some sort of full-out war, so they don't approve of the species battling each other, and they certainly don't approve of DEATH. Not all humans are against the supernaturals, and many think DEATH is the enemy. But usually the DEATH members manage to not get caught, so long as they're smart enough to stay under the radar. Still, the group has various phone numbers circulating, all that lead to untraceable phones so that people can make anonymous calls and alert the group of supernatural creature activity or locations. The biggest group of this nation-wide organization resides in New Haven, which is also a hotspot for the supernaturals -- so you can guarantee that battles between the groups are happening on a daily basis.
So if you've got something against the supernaturals and want to do something about it, DEATH is the group for you.
